Paper Backed Veneer Thickness

The extra thickness of the wood backed veneers coupled with the wood construction of the back give added strength and stability as compared to the paper backed veneers.

Our phenolic backed veneer is the same quality sheet veneers as our 10 mill and 22 mil bfv paperback veneer with a durable resin saturated paper backing. 10 mil which equals 1 100 or 0 01 full thickness veneer plus backer. Mil or mil thickness is the common measurement of a coating.

Use it when extra durability and stability are factors. One mil equals 1 1000 of an inch. Generally speaking the actual wood part of a paper backed veneer is 015 but the thickness can vary based on the amount of finish sanding done at the factory. All of our paper backed veneer sheets are made from the finest wood veneer for outstanding character and figure.

Here are the exact specifications of each veneer backing thickness. The factory sands each veneer sheet until it is perfectly smooth. The paper backing is generally available in a 10 and a 20 mil thickness. The only differences between the 1 64 paper backed veneers and the 3 64 wood backed veneers are the thickness and of course the type of back.

4 x 8 is priced below and some are available in up to 5 x 12 sizes. 1 42 or 0 0238 backer thickness. Premium wood veneers are permanently bonded to a resin saturated backing which allows maximum flexibility. Available with 10 mil 20 mil and 30 mil paper backing.

Custom matching of veneer sheets to exact specification is available. A quarter inch would be 250 mils. Use it in place of hpl or high pressure laminates. 10 mil backed veneer.
